The design and nature of a matrix printer lends itself to printing on a variety of media types and sizes. The impact force applied to the paper during printing means that multiple copies can be made simultaneously (by using interleaved carbon sheets or special multi-part stationery). Dot matrix printers also use a simple consumable that can be easily replaced at a relatively low cost compared to other printing technologies. The mechanical technology behind the OKI Printing Solutions dot matrix printers in particular, also make them extremely rugged and reliable even under harsh operating environments where other, more fragile printing devices would fail. Why use OKI Printing Solutions matrix printers? Regardless of appearances, all printers are not built the same and do not operate in the same way. OKI Printing Solutions printers come with an array of features that are hidden from the user but are an integral part of the design philosophy which produces a printer that is extremely robust and reliable. A few of these features are outlined below. Key Differences: OKI Printing Solutions impact printer products are engineered with only the highest quality materials, making their robust design stand out from the competition. OKI Printing Solutions Print head design - the stored energy mechanism featured in our print head design is more powerful than mechanical designs in other manufacturers' products. This allows for reliable multi-part forms handling and printing up to 10 parts on selected printers. All parts are integrated into one body which means less moving parts and an increase in reliability. The design means that the printhead is more resistant to vibration and oscillation and better control of the print pins as they fire for multi-part forms. Once again, this means higher reliability. (Competitors use a clapper type design which has more moving parts, hence offering less stability, strength and reliability.) Samarium cobalt magnets - Ideal for small, compact designs in high temperature environments, this type of magnet is very powerful & has a high resistance to de-magnetizing forces - hence will remain powerful throughout the life of the product (Competitors do not utilise these types of magnets due to the mechanical design to their print heads. They do not use the external magnet design.) Closed loop feedback system - This system combines a unique optical sensor and microprocessor control to accurately position the print head for precise printed characters. Combined with Oki's exclusive rack and pinion drive this gives precise control over print head positioning even in applications where the printer is not on a level surface. All OKI Printing Solutions products (except the ML395, ML3410 and ML4410) feature the closed loop feedback system. (None of the competition use the Closed loop feedback system. It is unique to OKI; providing better print quality & higher reliability.) OKISmart Paper Handling - OKI technology that reads and 'learns' the thickness of the media. The print pins detect the distance from the print head to the paper and in this way calculate the thickness of the paper that is loaded. The paper thickness is calculated every time a new form is loaded. The paper thickness switch is now making it possible to move effortlessly between forms. OKI Printing Solutions intelligent print-head, OKISMART, is a key feature of the ML500 Elite series printers & Pacemark ML4410.
